About

BCCUK

The Buddhist Community Centre UK was founded in 2007 by the founder and the Chairman Mr Kaji Sherpa, with a vision to establish a Buddhist monastery to serve the growing Buddhist Community in the South east region of the United Kingdom. After several years of hard work, dedication and fund raising activities by our dedicated committee members, a former social club was purchased and completely transformed into a Buddhist monastery.

We are truly fortunate to have The Buddhist Community Centre UK monastery consecrated and named by His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche as 'Tashi Dongak Choeling'..Following this, we had the great honour to have our monastery officially inaugurated by His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama, recently on the 29th of June 2015. His Holiness has also kindly accepted our humble request to be the patron of our centre.

Alongside His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama , our centre has been honoured by the visits of many other respected Rinpoches including His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche, Gakar Rinpoche, Phakchok Rinpoche, Dupsing Rinpoche, Sogyal Rinpoche, Chime Rinpoche, Gyalse Rinpoche, Namdak Rinpoche, Chowang Rinpoche, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, and Sakya Ratna Vajra Rinpoche. Their blessings, teachings and continuing support has been a deep source of motivation and encouragement to our team and the centre.

We are a registered charity organisation run by a team of volunteers with an aim to provide a peaceful place for meditation and a community of support for the practice of Buddhism with an emphasis on the teachings of Lord Buddha. Our centre has organised and hosted public talk by His Holiness the Dalai Lama twice up to date alongside providing various ritual ceremonies ranging from naming to funeral ceremonies, holding pujas and offering buddhist teachings to the local community in a regular basis. We currently have two buddhist monks and a team of volunteers for the daily running of the monastery. Alongside our centre and monasterial activities, we also fund and extend our support to both local and international projects and charities in the community.

Please come visit us as we welcome you to our centre, monastery and to the world of Buddhism, where we hope you discover your true Buddha nature, achieve equanimity and ultimately liberate yourself from one's sufferings.

May you all find peace and happiness in your life.
